Introducing the All-New 2009 Maxima. The 4-Door Sports Car.

Nissan's new flagship sedan is built upon an all-new front-drive "D platform" that is shorter between the wheels and overall, yet boasts a wider front and rear track. Though the chassis and sheetmetal are new, performance will come from the standard 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve VQ-series V-6 engine that powered the previous-generation Maxima. This revised engine is now rated at 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 35 horsepower and nine lb-ft of torque over the 2008 Maxima engine. Yet mileage holds at last year`s 19 city and 26 highway. More power and less weight conspire to cut the Maxima`s 0-to-60-mph acceleration time to 5.8 seconds from 6.1; and the sedan now clocks 14.5 seconds at 98 mph in the quarter-mile.

All 2009 Maximas come in two trim levels, 3.5 S and 3.5 SV, and are equipped with a revised version of the Nissan's standard Xtronic CVT with manual mode and available paddle shifters. Nissan has put plenty of emphasis on in-cabin electronics, with iPod connectivity standard. A premium system is among the many options, as well as a 9.3-gigabyte hard-drive audio package, a voice-controlled navigation system, with real-time traffic and a rearview camera.
