All-New 2009 Subaru Forester
The 2009 Forester is built on an all-new platform with a more "SUV-like" design. The 2009 Subaru Forester has additional legroom in its new edition. The Forester's wagon body has been stretched for the new model year. Two engines are available in the Forester: a 170-horsepower four and a 224-hp version of the same 2.5-liter engine. At 65 mph the Forester seems on par with most small SUVs for road and wind noise. Steering is precise, body lean is relatively limited and braking is sure-footed.
The doors now have framed windows, which makes for a heftier feel when you slam them shut. The cargo area boasts a wide opening and light liftgate, and Subaru says the roof rack's 175-pound capacity beats most major competitors. As with all Subaru models, the 2009 Forester comes equipped as standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Standard safety equipment on all models now includes electronic stability control and brake assist, which helps drivers apply maximum braking force in emergencies, as well as standard side-curtain airbags with rollover sensor.
